amyaiellophotography.com - an update!

Alright, everyone. I've managed to get the domain name back for one year. Unless I track down this former colleague of mine, I'm S.O.L. as far as getting the name back. Things still don't look so good.

In the meantime, I hope that everyone will continue to help me spread the word about the new domain name - www.amyphotochicago.com. I'm planning on making a full switch to avoid further issues with this domain name.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and that nobody catches this terrible cold that I've managed to catch!

And the battle continues...

I'm very ill. Oh, and I'm very disappointed. I had to cancel two shoots; two concert shoots. Tonight's concert is what upsets me though. I was supposed to be the additional photographer on Abra Moore's show at the Metro this evening. I've been listening to her music ever since I met her, and was really looking forward to finally seeing her play live.

I suppose that will just have to wait until June when she returns. That's okay. It will be in a more intimate setting, and I will actually get to chat with her again. She's such an interesting woman.

I have a very congested... well... bronchial/chest area; that's what's wrong with me. I'm sure that it will worsen and perhaps even turn into a nasal/sinus issue. I already feel the pressure.

I was lucky enough to have arranged for a fill-in camera op to take my afternoon portion of today's double shift at the chopper job (before I even got sick). I came home and crashed, and when I awoke, I had no voice. Down the hatch with the hot liquids.

Lovely.

Needless to say, all my weekend fun has now been canceled, and I have scheduled myself for a weekend filled with hot tea & honey, sleep, movies, and general aches, pains and misery...

What? You guys should know I'm a bit dramatic by now. Sheesh! ;)

Perhaps I will take this down time to get everything in order with the business. As an fyi, I've restructured a few of the things; namely the wedding photography pricing. I've decided to take a hit out of my personal earnings, and foot the bill for an album or coffee table book with EVERY wedding investment. No more a-la-carte; not unless additional copies are wanted.

Anyway, my brother has stepped up to the plate and has been gracious enough with his time to help me with the business end of things - that's his forte, not mine. I'm very lucky to have him as my brother :)

Well, there's no real reason for this blog. I'm just trying to make my eyes a little more tired so I can get some more rest.

Keep up the great work in spreading the word about the new website. I truly appreciate everyone's help!!! :)

A NEW WEBSITE ADDRESS!

Hello, everyone.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I've been forced to change my website domain name. The new address is www.amyphotochicago.com

I am still working on trying to get amyaiellophotography.com back in my possession, but things are looking rather grim.

Please help me spread the word around about the new name. As a thank you for this, I would like to offer a gift:

For any wedding that is booked because of you (meaning contract is signed and a retainer fee has been paid in full), I will write you a check for $75, and donate an additional $25 to Children's International (which can be done in your name or my business's name). You will be sent proof of donation if desired.

For all portrait sessions, headshot sessions and band sessions that mention this blog, the client will receive a complimentary photo print package which includes one 8x10, two 5x7's and four 4x6's. These prints do not have to be all the same picture; they can be mixed and matched.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Website Woes

I'm not a happy camper at the moment.

A former colleague of mine took the liberty of purchasing my domain name for me. It was really a kind gesture. At the time, I was unaware of the fact that the domain ownership would expire. Actually, I was unaware of that fact until just a few weeks ago. As it turns out, I cannot actually purchase my domain name without having an authorization code that this person created, and so therefore, I may have to forfeit amyaiellophotography.com and start over.

:(

Here's hoping I can track the code down!

Abra Moore

I was fortunate enough to be asked to take some photos of an interview session for the Chicago Music Guide this morning. Abra Moore was the subject of this morning's interview.

I didn't know what to expect upon meeting her, to be honest. She ended up being extremely sweet, insightful, genuine and down-to-earth. Her story, what I heard of it, was really a great one to hear. I asked her how she got her break, who discovered her, what it has been like for her over the years...

But really, to hear more of the interview, stay tuned to the Chicago Music Guide. Dennis Kelly asked some really great questions. The interview should be up within the week!

New Opportunities

An old friend of mine from high school got in touch with me recently. To sum things up very briefly, it is because of this friend that a new opportunity has come my way - I will be shooting pictures for the Metromix section of the Chicago Tribune!!! The work, I'm guessing, will be sporadic, but I'm still thrilled about the opportunity, nevertheless!

Tori Amos

Monday night, I had one of the most notable experiences of my little life thus far - I finally got to go see Tori Amos in concert. Not only did I see her live, but I managed to get boxed seats! Amazing... simply amazing... It was a whirlwind of emotion for me, because her music was there for me at some of the most difficult parts of my life. I'm still on cloud nine from that show.

(a surprisingly not horrible image I captured using my cell phone):

I want to make mention though of her opening act. I cannot believe the talent that came from this one-man show! His name is Yoav. He uses this arpeggio foot pedal thing, and creates his own rhythms by drumming on his guitar, and even singing into it. The recording of his work simply doesn't do it justice, but it's still awesome to listen to.

Take a minute to check him out - you won't be sorry, I promise!

Here's his myspace page:

Amy & Steve Password 'oops'

To all guests of Amy and Steve's wedding -

I just started using a new photo lab for posting wedding proofs, and didn't know that I was to add a special number before each password.

Please note that once the images are ready (hopefully by the end of this week), the username will remain the same, and the password will be 18168-PASSWORD ON THE CARD.

Again, please add 18168-

to the password (the dash is extremely important).

Sorry for the blip, everyone.
