My Best Friend and My Godson

I cannot tell you what an amazing morning I had today. I spent time with my best friend, my favorite (and coincidentally, only) godson, my camera, and beautiful mother nature; everything that makes me smile :)

My godson was a ham, as always. He shared his version of a classic from The Rolling Stones...

"You can't always get what you want/but if you try sometimes/you just might find/you get what you get/so don't throw a fit!!! ... that one's for you, mommy!!!"

We roared in laughter!! I have to say, I'm proud of my little Kaleb for already having such great taste in music :)

Shelly and Kaleb climbed trees, and even made clothing changes (well, Shelly did) in the middle of the forest without showing much more than her shoulders. She's got some talent, that woman ;)

Anyway, I have known Shelly since we were babies (nearly just born). She truly is a sister to me, despite the blood relation thing being absent. I believe that everyone should have a Shelly in their lives for so many reasons, it'd take me years to list them all.

I love you both!!!

The Lovely Kim

Kim and I met in high school - she and my brother were classmates ever since grade school; poor girl was teased relentlessly by him!! She and I have grown to be pretty close friends in the past few months since we've gone through the exact same situation...

ANYWAY - Kim is a makeup artist, to all those out there in need of fabulous makeup work for weddings and other special occasions. She asked me to do this shoot for her with a focus on photos that were different from anything she already has of herself. We opted for video lighting - a special thanks to her sister, Jen, for help with that! A special thanks to Kim's parents for the AWESOME wine!!

Phil and Niki first met me months ago - I'll never forget it, especially after the life experience that they told me they had gone through at the time. Phil, I'm SO glad that you made a perfect recovery. At the start of the day yesterday, I learned what a small world this can be, as Phil let me know that he knows some of the folks in the music industry that I'm friends with.

Now, these two people are incredibly non-traditional and artistic-minded; my favorite kind of people to work with! Theirs was a wedding filled with laughter, emotion, and wonderful moments. Each of them has 'inherited' a new and truly fantastic family to call their own. A very special thanks to everyone who made me and my assistant, Nena, feel incredibly welcome yesterday.

Phil and Niki, I wish you both the utmost luck, happiness, and success throughout your lives together. Hopefully, I'll be seeing you both around :)
