Goodbye, My Little Miu...
___________________________

Today has been one of the worst days I will likely ever remember. I had to send my kitten in to the vet to get checked out, as he has been vomiting for more than a week straight. They have declared that he has what's known to be megaesophagus, which is a congenital defect. Surgery can be done, but the success rate is so low that it's not recommended. It's also very expensive.

Miu will suffer the rest of his life with difficulty breathing and swallowing from this condition. He will need special care and more attention than I am able to give to him. He is likely to suffer from other ailments related to the disease, including pneumonia.

That being said, I will have to give him up.

I have already contacted the breeder from where he came. He agreed to take the little guy in to care for him for a while. He seems to think that the kitten was misdiagnosed (which I hope he's right). After some time, he'll have his vet take a look. From there, we'll decide if he's healthy enough for me to take him back, or if I'll be taking home a new kitten.

I will be quite honest with you - after only a month and a half of having this little guy around, and crying over just that short a time of having him, I just don't know if I can do this again. Because the breeder said the worst case scenario will only grant me another kitten, I'm afraid that I've no choice but to take a new kitten into my home.

The problem is... I don't want another one... and I am fearful that because it is coming from the same breeder, this condition will also come too.

Is it too much to ask for a furry little friend?
