Kyle & Jacqueline
August 23, 2008

__________

Yesterday, I was given the honor to photograph the wedding of two incredibly special people in my life. These two people are family to me and to my family.

I have known Kyle much of my life, as he and my brother have been more than best friends; they've grown to be brothers. I remember the circumstances that their friendship began, and admired my brother for standing up and kicking butt for sake of sticking up for the little guy (Kyle, I'm not sure if you remember that one even).

Their friendship began with after school Zelda sessions on the original Nintendo system - you know the one - box-like mario, scrolling screens, classic. During the summertime, Kyle would nearly live at our house, returning home only to shower and change clothes. He ate with us, went places with us, watched movies, played games. He was our family. He always will be :D

The years went by, and we all grew up together. My brother and Kyle always stuck together, and got into tons of mischief. It's what they did, and I have a feeling that it's what they'll continue doing for the rest of their lives. When my brother was in high school, he met another guy who fit into his friends; an exclusive circle that very few are ever allowed to be included in. Dann fit in perfectly. Even when going to different colleges (and studied different things), they still hung out whenever possible. I remember it taking a little while (but not too long) for Dann to become one of the brothers, but I was always glad that he too was.

There is so much I can tell about Kyle, but the one thing that sticks out right now, of course, is the day that I knew he found someone that was his perfect fit - 'THE' girl. My brother and Dann met their matches, and Dann's now wife teamed up with my now sister in law to introduce Jacqueline to Kyle. Dann, as I remember, was incredibly animate against this matchmaking process (not sure if you remember this, Dann, but I sure do!). To this day it still makes me grin.

The day I saw them together as a couple for the first time was when I started planning on her becoming a new member of my extended family. Never in my life have I seen two people that have been a more perfect fit for each other. Jacqueline is incredibly sweet, bright, talented, artistic, understanding... I cannot truly go on to describe everything this woman is, nor can I explain the love between her and Kyle. It is truly perfect, pure, beautiful and surely everlasting.

Their wedding day finally came after four years of being together. Kyle's two brothers (by blood), his two brothers by friendship (my brother, Dann), and my father were all included in the mix of groomsmen. On Jacqueline's side were her sister Nikki, Dann's wife Andrea, my sister in law Kim, and Jacq's two friends whose names just would not remain in my memory (for this I am SO sorry!).

We started the morning at Salon 312 in Lemont with hair styling. The ceremony was at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. We had a photo session in dowtown Lemont, followed by an intimate session with the bride and groom at the place they were engaged - Wine Styles of Darien (they were incredibly kind to have us there, and even had a chilled bottle of champagne ready for the two of them). The reception was at Ashton Place.

Jacqueline and Kyle - you are both truly amazing people. I really want to stress to you just how incredibly honored I am that you asked me to photograph your wedding day. Kyle, I am so incredibly happy for you, and know that you have found the perfect partner to help you through the rest of your life. Jacqueline, welcome to the family! I cannot express just how happy we are to see you as Kyle's wife. I couldn't have wished for anyone better for my 'brother.'

Love you both!

Garbage Dresses?
____________

I took my 13 year old cousin downtown to start teaching her how to take photos with my cameras. We had a blast! While we were there, we saw all of these dresses by designer row on Michigan Avenue. All of them were made from recycled materials including old pop cans, umbrellas, bubble wrap, pins, and other scrap materials.

I later learned that they were a collective project by students at the International Academy of Design and Technology. Here's some of what we saw:

Jon & Kayla
Saturday, August 2, 2008
Marquette, MI

_____________

Never before have I had the pleasure of working with a bride who was so detailed in her planning. The entire day went incredibly smoothly, especially the photography portion. To Kayla, photography was one of the most important parts of the day since she works in the photography field. She and Jon both chose several must have locations and some poses.

Kayla chose to get ready at one of the historic hotels in Marquette - The Landmark Inn. Their ceremony was held at Good News Assembly of God in Ishpeming, MI. Their reception was held at the Ramada in Marquette, MI. In the end, I truly hope that we managed to capture everything they were hoping for.

Jon and Kayla, I wish you endless happiness in your new life together. I hope that the photos that we took will be memories you and your family will cherish forever. Congratulations :)
